Have you ever heard it said that “business improvement kills innovation”. George has, numerous times.
Though he never fully understood that because he was of the opposite opinion based on years of experience using improvement methods to actually create innovation.
Then one day, the penny dropped!
He heard it and saw it first hand and began to realise that business improvement can hamper innovation if certain scenarios are allowed to take place.
There are points along the improvement journey when the thinking of the people involved could either support or kill innovation. And much of this thinking stems from the conditioning we are exposed to in educational institutions and at work.
